Seattle’s very own Sol dropped his album Yours Truly yesterday, and the city is going crazy over it.

For the last month or so, I started to see Sol’s music appear on some pretty big music blogs, such as The Smoking Section and Hypetrak. Though I would like to say it wasn’t a surprise to me, it was. Personally, I think Sol is an amazing artist and deserves be nationally recognized, but from recent trends, Seattle has never really been the spotlight for producing national artists. Besides a few songs by Macklemore, people don’t have the opportunity to listen to some of the great hip-hop artists we have in the North West. It makes me excited when a rapper like Sol can break out of the local scene and make an impression nationally. And though I don’t know Sol personally, I am extremely excited to see where his career takes him. Best of luck to him.
